Burnley manager Scott Parker sat down with the media to discuss the squad, transfer
progress and Burnley’s upcoming fixture against Liverpool at Anfield.
Has the win
had an effect on the players?
Scott Parker
explained that Burnley’s 5-1 win against Millwall at the weekend has had a positive
effect on the players, especially “coming off the back of two positive results”,
with Burnley having drawn with Manchester United a week ago.
What would
you like the players to take on into the next game?
“Theres been a
lot of good and there’s been some poor stuff”, said Parker, “the last few weeks
with the results being the way they have can affect confidence and affect a
certain mindset in a player.
“We can come
out of that cycle and see the best version of ourselves.”
Is the team
done with learning this season and is it time to move on to showing?
Parker
explained that: “this is a young squad… there will always be learning”. But as we
get deeper into the season, “we need to learn quick.”
“This league is
a deadly league”, and “at times this year we have switched off in certain
moments.”
Have you
made progress on transfers?
When asked
about making new signings, Parker said, “we’re hoping to. Theres a willingness from
owners to add some quality to this group. It’s always a tough window.”
Do painful
defeats against Liverpool stick with you?
“I have one
good result at Anfield and one extremely painful one. That’s the beast you’re
up against.” Parker added that Liverpool is “full of huge talent.”
Squad
updates
Joe Worrall is “close”
to recovery, “Zian [Flemming] not so, he will probably be next game. Everyone else
is fully well.”
